A simple mapping and geographic information system (GIS) shareware package for Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and Vista. Maps and data can be provided by the user in the form of text files either created by other programs, or typed using a text editor.

Corte Certo
Developed by Dimensions Softwares (Brazilian company), three series of the software Corte Certo 2D (Mini, Standard and Plus) offer solutions for splitting up one or more plates into pieces, in order to take better advantage of materials (glass, metals, plastics, wood and others). The Plus series also includes a system especially designed for the optimization of one dimensional materials such as border tape, fences, baseboards and wires. Solutions are presented in reports and diagrams than can either be viewed on the screen or printed out.

Resulting from a project originally supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (United Kingdom), MAP aims to validate and disseminate algorithms useful in the modelling of materials (aluminium and nickel alloys, steel, composites, polymers). Australian producer of software for the mining industry. The 3 main : I-SITE (combines highly accurate 3D laser scanning hardware with advanced point cloud processing software); MINESUITE (for tracking, monitoring, control and reporting of all products, equipment, processes and personnel, allowing operations to reduce costs while improving performance, productivity and profitability); VULCAN (3D geological modelling, mine design and production planning solutions).

Math, Statistics and Computational Science
Public domain computer codes, for mathematical modelling and statistical analyses, developed and used by researchers from the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The site also provides links to other software sources.

MATTER Software
MATTER was originally set up in 1993 as a non-profit consortium of Materials Science Departments from British Universities to develop and help integrate computer-based learning materials into mainstream teaching (especially related to metallurgy, X-ray diffraction and gamma spectrometry). Due to its success, activities have expanded to include the development of science-based software resources for schools, industry and other science disciplines in universities. MELTS Software
Developed by the Geological and Planetary Sciences Division / Calltech University (USA) to facilitate thermodynamic modelling of phase equilibria in magmatic systems, providing the ability to compute equilibrium phase relations for igneous systems over the temperature range 500 - 2000°C and the pressure range 0 - 2 GPa.

Metallurgical Accountant
This is one of the data reconciliation and automatic controller optimization softwares developed by the Canadian company Algosys Inc., for monitoring metallurgical processes and increase their productivity and competitiveness; there are other systems for production accountancy and inventory management.

METALogic
Belgian consulting company that also develops information systems for monitoring materials degradation, and especially for corrosion control.

MetalPass Software Database
Compiled by the american company Metal Pass LLC, this directory contains information on dozens of software packages used in metal and related industries, providing links to their producers. Demo versions of some programs are available for free downloading.

METAMOD
Software for the modelling of pressure-temperature-time graphs of metamorphic rocks, developed by Prof. Christian Nicollet (Université Blaise Pascal, France).
