		Address materials issues in changing economic and environmental contexts to foster sustainable development;
		Assist formulation of policies and approaches for optimal and effective use of materials resources;
		Strengthen industrial systems in the assessment, choice, pricing and acquisition of available and new materials technologies;
		Promote innovations in materials and product design, and management of processing issues for achieving value addition to materials resources.
